Job Description
Company: NCBA Bank
Position: Business Analyst
Programme: T24 R25 Core Banking Re-implementation Programme
Experience Required: 6-8 Years
Direct Reports: None
JOB PURPOSE
To provide business analysis leadership for an assigned workstream/country within the T24 R25 Core Banking Re-implementation Programme. The Business Analyst operates with greater autonomy in eliciting, analysing and validating complex requirements, leads the comparison of current T24 functionality against native R25 capabilities, and acts as the primary analytical liaison between business stakeholders, the T24 vendor, and technical delivery teams.
This role plays a critical part in safeguarding requirements integrity, data migration accuracy and business readiness across the assigned scope, while providing quality oversight and mentorship to Business Analysts and contributing to the continuous improvement of BA standards across the wider programme.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial - 10%
- Estimation & Financial Analysis: Lead estimation and cost-benefit analysis for complex initiatives within the assigned T24 R25 workstream/country, including build, migration and testing effort, to support programme budget approvals and business case decisions.
- Process Efficiency & Cost Optimization: Drive identification of automation and process optimization opportunities arising from the move to native R25 functionality, reducing reliance on costly legacy customisations and supporting reduction in operational costs.
- Benefits Realization Tracking: Own benefits realization tracking for the assigned workstream/country, working with Project, Finance and business teams to validate outcomes against the T24 R25 business case pre- and post-implementation.
Internal Business Processes - 70%
- Requirements Elicitation & Analysis: Lead end-to-end business analysis for the assigned workstream/country on the T24 R25 upgrade, including stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, gap analysis and process mapping (BPMN/Visio), ensuring requirements are gathered, documented and confirmed within agreed time, scope and quality standards.
- Documentation & Specification Development: Develop and quality-assure high-quality BRDs, FRDs, user stories, use cases and functional specifications, ensuring consistency across Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid delivery approaches and adherence to programme documentation standards; review and coach less experienced Business Analysts on documentation quality.
- Solution Design Support: Provide analytical input in solution design sessions, ensuring proposed systems and processes align with documented business needs, user expectations and native R25 capabilities.
- Integration Impact Analysis: Assess integration points within the assigned workstream/country transitioning from the legacy Channel Manager to the new Omnichannel API model, or marked for decommissioning; confirm business requirements with system owners and document Keep / Migrate / Retire decisions with formal sign-off.
- Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement: Lead stakeholder mapping and analysis for the assigned scope, identifying key players, influence and needs. Develop and maintain a stakeholder map and RACI matrices to guide engagement strategies, define accountability and streamline communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Testing & Quality Assurance Collaboration: Design and support SIT/UAT test plans for the assigned workstream/country to confirm the upgraded T24 R25 system meets business requirements; work closely with QA teams on test planning, execution, defect tracking and resolution.
- Requirements Traceability & Version Control: Own and quality-assure an up-to-date requirements traceability matrix for the assigned workstream/country, ensuring version control and documentation integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
- Change Management Support: Lead change impact assessments for the assigned scope, guide the development of training materials, and contribute to communication plans to ensure a smooth business transition to T24 R25.
- Current-to-Future State (T24 → R25) Comparison: Lead detailed comparison of existing T24 customisations, configurations and interfaces against native R25 functionality for the assigned workstream/country; determine, with business and vendor input, what is kept, replaced with standard functionality, or rebuilt, and secure formal sign-off before build commences.
- Data Migration Validation: Agree with business owners what "correct" migrated data looks like for the assigned area; design and oversee validation checks against the legacy system for a sample of records, track mismatches against agreed tolerance, and escalate go-live risks to the Programme Manager.
- Operational Risk Awareness: Lead identification and management of operational risks during the analysis and design of new or changing business processes and systems for the assigned scope, ensuring controls are embedded in solutions and escalating material risks promptly.
- Cross-Workstream Dependency Management & Escalation: Proactively identify, document and manage dependencies between the assigned workstream/country and other workstreams (e.g. Data Migration, Integration); raise and track dependencies formally, escalate unresolved risks or delays to the Programme Manager rather than making unilateral assumptions, and keep the decision/requirement log updated once resolved.
Customer - 10%
- Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management: Lead relationship management with business units, product owners, the T24 vendor and delivery teams for the assigned workstream/country, acting as a primary point of escalation for analytical and requirements matters and contributing to successful project outcomes.
- User-Centric Requirements Gathering: Champion the voice of the customer, ensuring migrated and upgraded R25 functionality preserves or enhances the end-customer and staff user experience, and that requirements are prioritised accordingly.
- Customer Journey Insights: Apply advanced customer journey mapping techniques to identify friction points introduced or resolved by the R25 upgrade, guiding solution design decisions that enhance customer experience and drive satisfaction.
- Support for Service and Product Innovation: Provide analytical input to innovation opportunities enabled by native R25 capabilities, ensuring requirements support innovation, accessibility, and digital adoption.

- Mentorship & Capability Building: Coach and provide quality guidance to Business Analysts, Business users/SME’s and Junior Business Analysts within the workstream, supporting their development, consistency of BA standards, and documentation quality across the programme.
- Technical Certification & Skills Enhancement: Hold or actively pursue CBAP certification and other relevant credentials (e.g. Agile BA, Data Analysis) to maintain SME-level credibility on complex core banking re-implementation work.
- Technology & Trends Awareness: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and practices that can support business process modernization, automation, and innovation in digital product delivery.
