Job Title: Manager / Officer Credit Company: Bank of India (Tanzania) Ltd (A fully owned subsidiary of Bank of India) Location: Dar es Salaam Deadline: March 17, 2026
Role Overview The Manager or Officer of Credit is responsible for the end-to-end loan lifecycle, from analyzing and processing credit proposals to monitoring accounts and managing recoveries. This role requires a balance of technical financial analysis and the ability to mobilize and convince customers to grow the bank's credit business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Credit Processing and Analysis
- Prepare and process loan proposals, including disbursements and the issuance of LC, SBLC, and bank guarantees.
- Analyze balance sheets to assess appropriate credit limits for proponents.
- Scrutinize inward and outward transactions within borrower accounts to ensure compliance and financial health.
Documentation and Security
- Carry out physical inspections of loan securities.
- Complete all legal and internal documentation processes before disbursing credit limits.
- Ensure the proper filing and safekeeping of all sensitive papers and documents.
Monitoring and Recovery
- Follow up with borrowers to ensure regular operations in loan accounts.
- Manage the recovery of interest, loan installments, and overdue amounts, particularly in Non-Performing Asset (NPA) accounts.
- Liaise with lawyers, valuers, and recovery agents for various credit activities.
Compliance and Reporting
- Prepare closing returns for regulators and various statements for the Head Office pertaining to the Credit Department.
- Supervise vouchers within the credit department.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Economics, Accountancy, Finance, or Business Administration and Management.
Experience
- At least four years of working experience in a bank or financial institution.
- A minimum of three years of experience specifically in branch operations, preferably within a credit department.
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing credit proposals, monitoring borrower accounts, and handling trade finance.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in computer software, including Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to convince and mobilize customers to canvass new business for the bank.
