Job Description

NBC is the oldest serving bank in Tanzania with over five decades of experience. We offer a range of retail, business, corporate and investment banking, wealth management products and services.

Job Summary

Responsible for growing the Asset Financing book through new business acquisition, processing and assessing asset financing credit applications from branches, putting forward proposals for Asset Financing development, and ensuring the booking of quality Asset Financing loans.

Job Description​

Key Accountabilities

1.0 Business Growth

  • Driving Asset Financing growth and value through identification and development of new commercial engagements.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders, including clients, dealers, suppliers, government institutions, insurance companies and other financial institutions, to ensure that the Bank’s interests are properly represented and safeguarded.
  • Work with teams at branch and Head Office level in respect to the growth of the Asset Financing portfolio.
  • Work with all other related departments within the Bank to implement delivery of approved Asset Financing deals and propositions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the Asset Financing market in Tanzania, customer needs, and the wider need for financing of motor vehicles, equipment, machinery and other eligible assets.
  • Develop business cases and proposals and monitor the development of the Asset Financing portfolio.
  • Update and advise clients on Asset Financing products, pricing and fees.
  • Provide leadership on Asset Financing strategy development.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to branch teams on management of stressed Asset Financing assets.

2.0 Product Development

  • Team up with the Product Development team in developing new Asset Financing products and propositions.
  • Develop and maintain the Asset Financing product catalogue.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of Asset Financing products by reviewing relevant product reports monthly to determine product performance and areas for improvement.
  • In collaboration with the Product team, periodically review and advise on Asset Financing product pricing to ensure the products remain competitive in the market.

3.0 Risk Management

  • Respond to queries related to Asset Financing and provide all necessary information required during internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Asset Financing guidelines in all engagements.
  • Monitor the performance of Asset Financing loans on a monthly basis and advise branches on prompt actions to be taken for delinquent cases.
  • Work closely with branches to ensure adherence to all terms and conditions of approved Asset Financing loans.

Education and Experience Required

  • Holder of a first degree or its equivalent in Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least three years’ experience in Asset Financing, credit, relationship management, or a related banking field.
  • Sound experience in Asset Financing, including vehicle, equipment, machinery and other movable asset financing structures and applied models.
  • Good deal-making, structuring and collaboration experience, with the ability to negotiate business arrangements and translate them into a strategic approach.
