Job Description

To drive sustainable growth of the Bank's agribusiness portfolio by marketing products, initiating and managing Agri Credit facilities, and ensuring robust assessment and review of credit applications in line with Bank's credit policy.

The role also involves monitoring the portfolio performance against targets, growing deposits, maintaining asset quality and compliance standards, and advising the Head, Agri Wholesale on emerging risks and appropriate corrective actions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare an action plan for implementation and achievement of budget objectives for his/her area of operation.
  • Review and advise the bank on its pricing policy for Agri-loan products and solutions from time to time based on feedback from the field.
  • Monitor and supervise all Agri-loans issued and disbursed in his/her area of operation to ensure good and quality portfolio.
  • Ensure regular Agri-loan portfolio reports indicating performance and status are prepared and submitted on time.
  • Prepare and review strategies for marketing of Agri products and solutions both existing and to be developed from time to time.
  • Monitor and ensure that all Agri products delivery process is working properly and advise Head, Agri Wholesale for any improvement.
  • Appraise Agri-loan products in his/her area of operation and forward to Head; Agri Wholesale with recommendations.
  • Review credit appraisals from Wholesale Client Origination before forwarding to Head; Agri Wholesale for final review before finally sent to Credit Department.
  • Assist Branches and Zones to prepare budgets for all Agri-loan products and other bank offerings.
  • Train and coach Agri Assistant Relationship Managers on Agri-loan product appraisals
  • Training and awareness creation to all Branches in the zone on matters related to Agri Wholesale business.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of Agribusiness economics, sector dynamics and related laws.
  • Sound knowledge of Agribusiness products and services in the agricultural value chains.
  • Understanding of other bank's loan products, policies and procedures for cross selling purposes.
  • Excellent knowledge of banking operations and financial markets in Tanzania.
  • Computer proficiency (Excel, word, power point presentation and access)
  • Excellent communication (English and Kiswahili), numerical, analytical, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills for both internal and external customers
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Self-motivated, innovative with ability to initiate and lead change.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture and/or Agricultural Economics, Banking, Business Administration, Finance, or related fields.
  • Master's degree in business studies is an added advantage.
  • Postgraduate education in Banking and/or Banking certification(s) is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 4 years' banking experience in managing Agri related portfolio, Credit assessment and/or Project appraisal.
