Job Purpose
The Relationship Manager, Business Banking is responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) clients. The role focuses on business development, deposit mobilization, lending growth, customer relationship management, credit risk monitoring, and delivery of banking solutions that support client success while contributing to the bank's growth objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive the growth of SME deposits and loan portfolios in both value and customer numbers.
- Recruit new SME customers and cross sell banking products and services.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with new and existing clients.
- Develop marketing and deposit mobilization strategies aligned with branch and bank objectives.
- Promote bank products and identify new business opportunities within the market.
- Formulate and implement strategic plans to achieve lending and deposit growth targets.
- Manage selected high net worth customer portfolios.
- Monitor and control credit risks within assigned portfolios.
- Maintain acceptable Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and Non Performing Loan (NPL) levels.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive relationship management.
- Implement account management strategies that strengthen and protect banking relationships.
- Monitor market trends and recommend improvements to products, services, and customer experience.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to increase market share and customer retention.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Follow up on non performing accounts and implement recovery and remediation plans.
- Support the achievement of positive audit outcomes within SME Banking operations.
- Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and service standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant banking experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial position.
- Proven experience in sales, relationship management, and business development.
- Strong knowledge of SME banking products and lending processes.
- Experience in credit underwriting and credit risk management.
- Good understanding of local business markets and customer needs.
- Familiarity with banking regulations, policies, and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and drive performance.
