Job Description
Organization: Bank of Africa Tanzania (BOA)
Reports To: Head of Corporate Banking
Level: Manager
Job Purpose
Manage and grow a portfolio of corporate banking customers by building long-term relationships, identifying business opportunities, providing financial solutions, managing credit risk, and ensuring excellent customer service while supporting the Bank's business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Manage and grow a profitable portfolio through proactive business development and relationship management.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with corporate banking customers.
- Identify new business opportunities while expanding relationships with existing customers.
- Understand clients' financial needs and effectively communicate the Bank's value proposition.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the Bank's products and services and recommend suitable financial solutions.
- Conduct regular reviews for both borrowing and non-borrowing customers.
- Achieve established sales and production targets.
- Monitor customer complaints and ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Participate in community events and networking activities to increase the Bank's visibility.
- Develop business development strategies for assigned industries and market segments.
- Identify key business risks and prepare sound credit recommendations.
- Prepare credit proposals and participate in the underwriting and credit approval process.
- Structure, negotiate, document, and manage credit facilities.
- Ensure all loan documentation complies with Bank policies and resolve any documentation exceptions.
Relationship Management
- Take ownership of assigned client relationships.
- Develop and implement relationship management plans for each customer.
- Use a consultative approach to understand clients' business objectives and financial needs.
- Recommend and implement appropriate banking solutions.
- Conduct ongoing reviews to ensure customer needs continue to be met.
- Collaborate with client service teams, product teams, and senior management to deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Anticipate customer needs and identify key decision-makers.
- Maintain knowledge of banking policies and procedures affecting corporate relationships.
Portfolio Management
- Manage the overall performance, compliance, and risk of the assigned portfolio.
- Monitor customer exposures to ensure they remain within approved limits.
- Ensure portfolio performance aligns with approved credit structures.
- Complete periodic credit reviews, renewals, amendments, and other credit actions accurately and on time.
Technical Knowledge
- Apply knowledge of banking policies, procedures, prudential guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze and interpret financial and business information from multiple sources.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications effectively.
- Manage high-value customer relationships with minimal supervision.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of approved credit facilities within delegated authority.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience managing high-value corporate or commercial banking relationships.
- Experience developing, structuring, underwriting, and negotiating complex credit transactions.
