Job Description

The job holder will be responsible for growth of revenues and customer numbers for the branch to meet set annual premium targets for the branch. The role will report to the Branch manager.

Key responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Support line manager to oversee the renewal process to make sure that the branch attains 90% renewal rate.
  • Mandate to drive top-line growth through intermediaries – agents, banks, brokers and sales force executives.
  • Effectively work with your supervisor in the analysis of the performance of the branch and propose and implement initiatives for the growth the branch.
  • Drive the achievement of the sales revenue targets of the different intermediaries’ outlets i.e. agency, banks, brokers and sales force executives.
  • Conduct spot/audit checks on the productivity of the agency and SFEs to ensure adherence to company and regulatory requirements with support from the line manager.
  • Ensure that all internal compliance requirements are adhered to including agents licensing and renewal requirements as per the laid down company renewal procedures
  • Serve as primary contact for agents and SFEs inquiries and concerns and ensure these are timely closed
  • In liaison with finance, ensure timely premium collection from the intermediaries and timely payment of commissions
  • Prepare timely reports for the channel as and when need arises.
  • Promote cross selling to existing and new products through agents, banks, brokers, partnership and sales force executive network in liaison with product team.
  • Ensuring that the agents and partners meet their set monthly targets. Review of targets and performance shall be on bi –weekly basis
  • Appraising the performance of agents and sales force executives
  • Ensure that premium is collected from clients in line with company policy of premium before cover.
  • Supervising and motivating of the sales force executives.
  • Overseeing the recruitment & deployment of the agencies and sales force executives for the branch and setting up new distribution networks.
  • In liaison with the branch manager and sales training and development manager ensure that all sales force executives are regularly and properly trained to achieve Company objectives.
  • Ensure that the agents and sales force executives are appropriately qualified as per TIRA requirements. This includes licenses and all other areas of compliance.
  • Ensure full compliance with Company policies and procedures in the distribution networks. This means that any Audit violation of the procedures is strictly, and speedily handled and appropriate action taken
  • Gather marketing intelligence statistics including competition, new products and Company’s image to facilitate development of strategies to give the company a competitive advantage.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on production.
  • Assist in coordinating the claim notification, communicating to clients, and submitting the requisite documents in support of a claim, updating the clients during all stages of the claim settlement
  • Undertake initial underwriting of business from the sales force executives to ensure sound acceptance of risk thereafter forward to the Underwriting Manager.
  • Support line manager in the supervision and utilisation of sales tools to derive productivity of agents and sales force executive of the branch.
  • Delegated Authority: As per the approved Delegated Authority Matrix
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

  • Bachelor degree in business related field (Insurance options preferred)
  • Professional qualification in Insurance (COP, CII certificate is an added advantage)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in sales (insurance sector preferred)
  • Knowledge in insurance industry and concepts
  • A demonstrated track record in managing relationships with banks to ensure sustained business support.
