Job Description
To identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams for Halopesa. The Business Development Officer will drive market expansion and strengthen relationships with strategic partners to enhance the company’s market position and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Market Expansion
- Prospect, identify, and secure new business opportunities and partnerships.
- Conduct market mapping and competitor analysis to identify areas for growth.
- Negotiate commercial terms, agreements, and contracts with partners and agents.
Partnership Management
- Maintain strong relationships with existing partners.
- Coordinate joint initiatives with partners to drive customer acquisition and retention.
- Support integration of partner systems and services into Halopesa platforms.
Sales & Revenue Targets
- Work with the commercial team to set and achieve sales, transaction, and revenue goals.
- Monitor and report on performance metrics, pipeline status, and deal closures.
- Develop designer proposals and presentations for potential clients and partners.
Operational Support
- Communicate with internal teams (operations, compliance and technical) to ensure smooth onboarding of partners and agents.
- Monitor merchant performance, resolve operational challenges, and recommend improvements.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Conduct regular market visits to understand customer needs and competition.
- Provide feedback to the product team on gaps and opportunities for new features or product
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on business development activities and KPIs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships (preferably in fintech, telecom, or financial services).
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of mobile money, digital payments, or agent/merchant networks.
- Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Ability to travel extensively within assigned regions.
- Commercial Acumen: Ability to identify profitable opportunities and drive revenue.
- Relationship Building: Skilled at establishing and maintaining productive partnerships.
- Negotiation: Confident in structuring and closing deals.
- Results-Oriented: Self-driven and motivated to achieve targets.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to see long-term opportunities and align with company strategy.

KPIs / Performance Indicators
- Growth in agent and merchant network.
- Number of new partnerships signed and activated.
- Increase in transaction volumes, revenues, and market share.
- Retention rate of key partners and agents.
- Timely and accurate reporting of pipeline and performance metrics.
- Successful delivery of partner onboarding and training.
