Role Description:

The Business & Marketing Strategic Development (International Volunteer) will support Mikoko Development Foundation (MDF) in strengthening its business and marketing strategies under the Mikoko Shop Strategic Plan. The volunteer will play a key role in enhancing visibility, promoting entrepreneurship, developing marketing campaigns, and building partnerships that align with MDF’s mission to support environmental sustainability and community empowerment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning & Development

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of MDF’s business and marketing strategies.
  • Support the development of long-term marketing goals and business models aligned with MDF’s strategic priorities.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis to identify growth opportunities for MDF initiatives and Mikoko Shop.

2. Marketing, Branding & Communication

  • Research, plan, and execute advertising and marketing campaigns across various media platforms (radio, TV, print, online, and billboards).
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with advertising partners, vendors, and media outlets.
  • Inspect creative elements, content, and layouts to ensure brand consistency and quality.
  • Meet with internal and external partners to present campaigns, discuss progress, and recommend marketing strategies.
  • Support visibility and branding of MDF projects, products, and programs.

3. Business Development & Entrepreneurship Promotion

  • Organize and facilitate public training sessions and seminars focused on entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Support the development of small business models that benefit local communities through MDF programs.
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies for MDF products and services that balance affordability with sustainability.

4. Market Research & Data Analysis

  • Design and coordinate market research studies to identify trends, customer needs, and partner opportunities.
  • Analyze findings and prepare reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Provide insights to inform decision-making on product development and market positioning.

5. Donor, Partner & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with MDF’s management to support donor relations, proposal writing, and partner outreach.
  • Develop marketing materials and impact reports to communicate MDF’s achievements to stakeholders.
  • Strengthen collaboration between local and international partners to enhance MDF’s outreach and fundraising capacity.

6. Team Coordination & Oversight

  • Supervise and mentor local marketing volunteers and interns.
  • Ensure project milestones, timelines, and deliverables are met.
  • Foster teamwork, knowledge sharing, and a learning culture within the marketing and business team.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Business, Business Planning, and Analytical Skills to support strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Communication and Customer Service to engage effectively with stakeholders and partners.
  • Experience in marketing or strategy development, preferably in a non-profit or environmental organization context.
  • Ability to work independently and in hybrid work settings.
  • A passion for sustainability, climate action, and community development is highly desirable.
