Role Description
The Business Unit Head – Cyber Security is a senior leadership role responsible for defining, leading, and scaling DPSL’s Cyber Security business across multiple regions.
This hybrid role is based in Dar es Salaam, with flexibility for remote engagement when collaborating with teams and customers in other countries.
The BU Head will:
- Lead cyber security strategy and capability development
- Oversee solution architecture, presales, and technical standards
- Support enterprise sales efforts and engage customers at strategic and technical levels
- Drive revenue, margin, and operational performance for the Cyber Security BU
- Build and mentor a high-performance cyber engineering team
- Align with OEM partners to strengthen DPSL’s security portfolio
- Oversee delivery governance and ensure solution quality across projects
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Define the Cyber Security BU’s strategic direction.
- Develop capability plans, certification pathways, and skill matrices.
- Lead and mentor cyber engineers across multiple countries.
- Drive BU performance, growth, and profitability.
Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Develop and validate enterprise-grade architectures (Network Security, Cloud Security, Zero Trust, SOC frameworks, etc.).
- Oversee HLD/LLD creation and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
- Provide senior-level technical support for complex customer opportunities.
- Ensure alignment with industry frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, etc.).
Commercial Enablement & Customer Engagement
- Support Relationship Managers with presales activities, presentations, and solution positioning.
- Engage enterprise clients to understand security needs and propose value-driven solutions.
- Identify market opportunities and contribute to business development efforts.
- Collaborate with PMO to ensure smooth delivery and customer satisfaction.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Maintain strong relationships with security OEMs (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Sophos, Check Point, etc.).
- Manage certifications, partner tiers, and capability readiness.
- Work with distributors to optimize pricing, rebates, and training plans.
Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Strong background in Cyber Security Architecture, Risk Assessment, and Compliance.
- Experience in ICT solution design, consultancy, and managed services.
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- Firewalls, EDR/XDR, SIEM/SOAR
- Identity & Access Management
- Cloud security controls
- SOC and security operations frameworks
Leadership & Business Skills
- Proven experience leading cyber teams or a security practice.
- Strong understanding of solution governance, documentation standards, and delivery quality.
- Experience with sales support, presales engagement, or solution positioning.
- Ability to work across multi-country environments and manage diverse teams.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, or related field.
- Preferred certifications:
- CCIE Security
- PCNSE
- NSE7/NSE8
- CCSE/CCSM
- CISSP / CISM / GIAC
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is an added advantage.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a hybrid/remote model while leading multi-country activities.
- Experience managing budgets and achieving business targets.
