Job Description

We’re Attitude, and we’re coming soon. In 2025, we’re opening our very first hotel outside Mauritius, right here in Matemwe: an adults-only hotel with 74 villas, two restaurants and two bars. It’s a new chapter for us, and we’re putting a lot of heart into making it something special.

We’re now looking for people to join the adventure. Plenty of roles, plenty of opportunities.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational/Technical Responsibilities:​​

  • Managing a kitchen station (e.g., grill, sauté, pastry, fish, meat, or vegetable)​
  • Preparing and cooking dishes in their section according to recipes and quality standards​
  • Ensuring mise en place is ready for service​
  • Supervising commis chefs and junior staff working in the same section​
  • Monitoring portion control and waste management​
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in their area of responsibility​
  • Checking inventory and assisting with stock rotation​
  • Reporting equipment faults and maintenance needs​
  • Collaborating with other station chefs and the sous chef for smooth kitchen operation

YOUR QUALITIES: ​​

  • Professional qualifications in cookery​
  • 2–4 years of kitchen experience with at least some time spent in junior roles (e.g., commis chef)​
  • Strong culinary skills specific to their section (e.g., grilling, baking, butchery)​
  • Knife skills and safe food handling practices​
  • Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene regulations​
  • Ability to embody and instil Attitude’s DNA and culture within the hotel.​
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an enthusiastic and outgoing personality.​
  • Excellent communication skills: Clear, professional verbal and written skills and fluency in English and Swahili. A third language would be a definite advantage.​
  • An understanding of the African Market will be a definite advantage.​
  • Ability to compete in a fast-paced, dynamic and guest centric environment​​​
  • Outstanding customer service skills in handling customer queries and resolving issues.
