Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise and monitor daily activities of Relationship Officers
  • Lead and manage a team to achieve savings, insurance and lending targets
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and field support to staff
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and recommend promotions or terminations
  • Build and maintain a strong and harmonious team environment
  • Identify and develop emerging talent within the team

Sales and Business Growth

  • Lead marketing efforts for savings, insurance and loan products
  • Drive achievement of targets on disbursements, portfolio growth, portfolio quality, savings, insurance and client numbers
  • Identify and recruit potential clients within the outreach area
  • Support Relationship Officers in building a pipeline of borrowers
  • Identify new business opportunities and support market expansion initiatives

Credit Oversight and Portfolio Quality

  • Validate loan appraisals and client assessments before approval
  • Conduct spot checks on individual clients and group meetings
  • Ensure strong portfolio quality through close monitoring
  • Enforce zero tolerance on missed loan repayments
  • Monitor loan performance and take corrective action where needed
  • Verify information related to defaults, business activities and risk issues

Operations and Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee loan disbursement to ensure procedural compliance
  • Ensure proper safekeeping of cash, documents and records
  • Ensure accurate loan reporting in the core banking system

Customer Service

  • Handle client complaints and ensure timely resolution
  • Conduct client re-briefing during loan disbursement

Staff Recruitment and Training

  • Identify staffing needs based on business requirements
  • Plan and coordinate recruitment with relevant stakeholders
  • Identify training needs for staff
  • Plan and coordinate staff training programs
  • Coach and mentor staff for performance improvement

Monitoring and Performance Management

  • Monitor Relationship Officers’ performance daily
  • Track performance of savings, insurance, and loan portfolios
  • Take timely corrective measures to address performance gaps
  • Ensure achievement of portfolio, client, profit, savings and insurance targets

Coordination and Stakeholder Management

  • Work with management to develop and implement expansion and market penetration plans
  • Develop rollout and scaling plans, including staffing, budget and projections
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and deployment of staff
  • Liaise with IT for system setup and operational support
  • Support management in business case development and growth initiatives

Reporting and Analytics

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly performance reports
  • Analyse performance data and provide insights
  • Take corrective actions based on analysis and share with stakeholders
  • Market Research and Impact Monitoring
  • Lead market research and survey activities
  • Coordinate and support impact assessments
  • Collect and share lessons learned across the organisation
  • Monitor social impact indicators, including outreach to women and children
  • Identify improvement areas and new opportunities based on market insights

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
  • Professional certifications in Microfinance, Credit Management, Risk Management, or Banking will be an added advantage.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in credit/loan operations, within a Microfinance Institution, Bank, or Financial Institution.
  • At least 1–2 years’ experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Proven experience in loan appraisal, disbursement, monitoring, and loan recovery procedures.

Technical & Professional Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of credit analysis, cash flow assessment, and collateral evaluation.
  • Sound understanding of lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (BoT, internal credit policies).
  • Experience in Portfolio at Risk (PAR) monitoring, delinquency management, and loan restructuring.
  • Ability to analyze portfolio performance reports and take corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in core banking systems, MIS, and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Leadership & Management Skills

  • Proven ability to supervise, coach, and motivate loan officers to achieve portfolio quality and growth targets.
  • Strong skills in performance management, staff appraisal, and capacity building.
  • Ability to enforce compliance with credit policies and operational procedures.
