Location Tanzania (Site-Based)

Rotation 8 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off

Contract Type 12-Month Renewable

Work Schedule 6 Days per Week, 10 Hours per Day

We are looking for a highly skilled Construction Methods Specialist (Fire Safety Focused) to support construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities across a large-scale pipeline and facilities development in Tanzania.

This role provides expert guidance on safe and efficient construction methods, with a strong emphasis on fire safety engineering, fire dynamics, emergency response, and risk mitigation. You will support multiple disciplines, train personnel, and help establish robust fire safety systems and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on safe, efficient construction methods for all project phases.
  • Assess fire growth, heat transfer, and ventilation requirements using CFD modeling and fire dynamics expertise.
  • Validate fire protection strategies and emergency response requirements.
  • Deliver training programs on construction methods, fire prevention, firefighting techniques, and emergency response.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments, hazard studies, incident investigations, and root-cause analyses.
  • Lead site fire safety audits and implement corrective action plans.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies during fire safety inspections and reviews.
  • Review and optimize fire detection, suppression, and firefighting equipment systems.
  • Support commissioning and integrity testing of fire protection systems.
  • Drive the implementation of international safety standards, including IOGP Life-Saving Rules.
  • Mentor and guide project teams and contractors to ensure compliance with fire safety requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • Technical qualification in oil & gas operations or fire safety engineering.
  • NEBOSH IGC / Process Safety qualification (or equivalent).
  • NFPA Fire Safety Specialist certification or similar.
  • Strong experience with fire modeling software (FDS, ANSYS Fluent, PyroSim).
  • 10+ years’ international experience on major oil & gas projects.
  • 7–10 years’ experience working in developing countries, ideally in similar construction-focused roles.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing safety management systems.
  • Skilled in RCA methodologies and safety management tools used in major projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to support multicultural, multi-discipline teams.
