Data Collection Agent at Jaza Energy Tanzania

This role involves community data collection, concise report writing and analysis to identify remote locations that have energy/electrification access issues who can benefit from our solar battery rental services. The sites validated by the Data Collection Agent will be evaluated based on our company-specific approval criteria. The ideal candidate should have an interest in data collection, analysis, report writing, interaction with rural or remote locations through frequent travels across the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Assessment and Validation:
• Work closely with the Expansion Lead to create a pool of approved sites/communities within the region/country that would fit well with our solar battery rental business model
• Gather information on any ongoing and upcoming electrification projects that may potentially affect our business operations in any respective community/district/region.
• Conduct on-site visits to assess potential locations and collect data based on our set approval standards.
• Identify suitable land or shop for our hub or shop installation, ensuring there is adequate space and structural suitability.
• Community Engagement:
• Engage with local leaders, community members, and stakeholders to understand local needs, expectations, and potential support for our solar projects.
• Facilitate discussions around the benefits of solar energy to ensure community buy-in.
• Data Collection and Reporting:
• Collect and and document site-specific data, including GPS coordinates, photographs, community demographics, and infrastructure details.
• Recommend potential improvements or considerations for sites that do not meet all criteria.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Research, Statistics, Community Development and other related field
• Interest or experience in data collection, fieldwork or site evaluation
• Ability to collect data and produce clear, concise reports.
• Knowledge of rural or remote community needs, especially regarding energy access challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with rural communities and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of mapping tools, and data collection technologies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while staying on track with the assigned task and identified timelines
• Be able to interact with people from different backgrounds, culture and languages
• Be open to traveling frequently and to remote locations.
