Job Description

To operate public transit buses for DART Phase II (Mbagala) safely, efficiently, and courteously. Responsibilities include vehicle inspection, customer service, emergency handling, and delivering high-quality service in line with MOFAT company standards.

Qualifications

  • Valid PSV (Passenger Service Vehicle) driving license – Class C or equivalent 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in public transport or commercial driving.
  • NIT or VETA Certificate 
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is an added advantage.
  • Prior customer service or public-facing experience is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Dar es Salaam urban roads and traffic laws.

Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities (Driving):

  • Operate BRT buses along assigned routes according to schedules and safety regulations.
  • Comply with all traffic laws and company operational policies.
  • Maintain route discipline and ensure timely departures and arrivals at designated stops.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service & Assistance: Greet and assist passengers, including the elderly and persons with disabilities.
  • Information Provision: Provide travel information and courteously handle minor complaints
  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g., brakes, lights, tires).
  • Defect Reporting: Promptly report any vehicle issues to the maintenance department.
  • Emergency Handling: Respond appropriately to emergencies such as breakdowns, passenger illness, or road incidents.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized driving area and report any sanitation or interior issues.
  • Communication: Communicate with the control center regarding route changes, traffic delays, or emergencies.
  • Documentation: Complete trip logs, incident reports, and any required forms as per company policy.
