Job Profile / Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in supporting the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment by performing electrical and instrumentation maintenance, inspections, calibrations, repairs, and ensuring system integrity and reliability while minimizing downtime and adhering to safety standards.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems (e.g., motors, MCCs, lighting, cables) and instruments (e.g., sensors, switches, transmitters).
- Calibrate field instruments and verify control loops in accordance with schedules and procedures.
- Assist in troubleshooting faults in PLC panels, junction boxes, and signal wiring.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams to guide installations and repairs.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and other safety procedures during work execution.
- Record all work performed in maintenance logs or computerized systems (e.g., CMMS).
- Support shutdown and startup activities by preparing equipment and restoring systems after maintenance.
- Perform all tasks according to Kilombero Sugar’s Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (SHERQ) policies and procedures.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions.
- Co-operate with management to enable compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
- Report any unsafe, non-compliant, or environmentally harmful situations through the incident reporting system.
- Report any incidents affecting health, safety, or environment immediately or by end of shift.
- Maintain awareness to prevent environmental pollution and support sustainable operations.
- Avoid interfering with or misusing any safety, health, or environmental protection equipment.
- Maintain proper housekeeping within your area of responsibility.
- Propose improvements to work processes and discuss them with supervisors before implementation.
- Ensure integrity and reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems through preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Minimize downtime and support safe operations through adherence to technical standards and procedures.
Must-Have Skills

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum NTA Level 2 or equivalent in Electrical/Instrumentation from a recognized institution.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, pneumatic circuits, fault tracing, and repair.
- 1–2 years’ experience in plant maintenance, industrial electrical systems, or instrumentation.
