The Mechanical Technician role is ensure tasks related to Tanzania depot run smoothly and in the most effective way with focus on: performing inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs (including overhauling components) on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic & electrical systems on depot trucks and equipment.

To ensure safety compliance and support engineering teams in optimizing equipment availability, performance and reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing
  • Install, assemble, and test mechanical equipment
  • Diagnose trucks and equipment faults and carry out repairs
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Monitor equipment performance and safety standards
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and rotating systems
  • Maintain maintenance records and reports
  • Collaborate with the team.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Key Measures and Targets:

  • 100% Preventive Maintenance compliance by due date
  • Zero work quality defects
  • Quick breakdown closure, average maximum 2hrs for normal breakdown
  • Complete work orders as assigned timely, and fill /compile all required reports for the work done.
  • Zero safety violation

Who We Are Looking For

Someone with:

  • Bachelor / or diploma in Mechanical or Automotive
  • Engineering, VETA Certification
  • Strong experience in mechanical fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance (3+ years working experience in a mechanical technician role)
  • Skills and competencies, you should learn in the position
  • Strong leadership and team guidance ability
  • Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
  • Proactive, hands-on, and safety-conscious
  • Proper Communication within the team.
  • Work order filing and report writing
  • Trainable

Skills and competencies:

  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair
  • Knowledge of tools, machinery, and maintenance
  • procedures
  • Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics systems (For Reach stackers, Empty Container handlers, forklifts & HD trucks) and ability to read technical manuals and blueprints
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
