Job Description
A Technical Hardware Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware, servers, printers, card printing machines, networking equipment, and other related systems. The role involves diagnosing technical issues, replacing or upgrading components, and ensuring optimal performance across all hardware systems.
This position requires a hands-on professional with in-depth knowledge of hardware architecture, particularly in systems involving plastic and metal card printers, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Configuration
- Set up and configure computers, servers, printers, plastic/metal card machines, and other peripherals.
- Integrate new hardware into existing IT infrastructure while ensuring compatibility and performance.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing of hardware components.
- Identify and replace faulty parts and carry out minor repairs to restore system functionality.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware performance and hardware-software interactions.
- Provide timely support to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
System Upgrades
- Evaluate and install hardware upgrades to improve performance, enhance capacity, or meet evolving operational needs.
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, repairs, and service logs.
- Track the lifecycle of IT equipment and manage related supplies.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with software developers, IT support, and system administrators to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Provide hardware insights and technical input in infrastructure planning and system optimization.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth understanding of hardware components including CPUs, motherboards, printers, plastic/metal card printing machines, and network devices.
- Troubleshooting Expertise: Strong diagnostic and problem-resolution capabilities in real-time support environments.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Analytical thinking to assess complex situations and deliver practical solutions.
- Effective Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical teams and end users.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in installations, maintenance tasks, and record-keeping.
- Adaptability & Learning Agility: Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving IT requirements.
- At least two years experience in the field.
