AzamPay, is a financial technology company focused on creating innovative solutions for the East African market. AzamPay operates two key verticals namely payment processing and consumer money services namely AzamPesa. The company is looking for a self-motivated, mission oriented and techsavy CFO for its Tanzanian operations.

Role Description

As the Chief Financial Officer, you will contribute to healthy business operations, improve revenue generation, undertake financial planning, and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. Your responsibilities will be as outlined below. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dar es Salam, Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

• Finance Transformation & Automation

Lead end-to-end transformation of the finance function through automation, digitization, and data-driven decision-making

Implement scalable systems and controls to support regional expansion

• Financial Leadership

Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s growth goals

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and capital allocation

Take ownership of the finance and accounting cycle/management process

• Cross-Functional Project Leadership

Champion and lead multi-departmental initiatives from concept to delivery

Mobilize and hold accountable project teams across product, operations, technology, and compliance

• Governance, Risk & Compliance

Oversee legal, regulatory, and compliance functions in alignment with Tanzanian and regional fintech frameworks

Ensure strong internal controls and risk mitigation strategies

• Performance Management

Build a high-performing finance team with clear KPIs and accountability from day one

Provide business and financial insight to the Group CEO and Group CFO

Qualifications

Proven CFO or ability to progress towards a CFO position or senior finance person within mobile money or mobile financial sercices;

Strong track record in finance transformation and automation;

Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and executing complex projects;

Deep understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks in digital payments;

Monthly reporting for business performance for all geographies, product performances, breakeven points;

Qualified accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent); MBA is a plus;

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills;

Knowledge of East African markets and regulatory environments is preferred.
