Job Purpose
The Customer Assessment and Approval Officer (CAAO) is responsible for evaluating and approving loan applications submitted via the MySolGO app. This includes conducting thorough customer assessments, verifying KYC details, educating customers on financial responsibilities, and supporting upselling initiatives. The role ensures that only qualified customers are approved, contributing to portfolio quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Customer Assessment & Approval
- Assess loan applications submitted via MySolGO and PAYGEE platforms.
- Verify customer information including KYC, household size, financial capacity, and loan repayment history.
- Approve qualified customers based on assessment criteria and internal policies.
- Conduct credit assessment interviews for upselling and additional appliance purchases.
Customer Education & Support
- Educate customers on the importance of truthful disclosure during assessments.
- Explain the implications of non-payment, including CRB reporting and system repossession.
- Provide guidance on responsible borrowing and financial literacy.
Operational Excellence
- Follow up on escalated cases via Teams and other internal communication channels.
- Complete tasks in line with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Support telesales and upselling teams with assessment-related queries.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Contribute to the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) by suggesting enhancements to assessment procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, approvals, and customer interactions.
- Prepare periodic reports on assessment outcomes, approval rates, and customer feedback.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.
Additional Duties
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the line manager or Head of Customer Finance.
Knowledge And Skills
Experience:
- Good level of familiarity with typical income, expenditure and cash flow patterns of rural and peri-urban households and micro-enterprises in different regions, including farmers, animal breeders, business owners and employees
- Outstanding skills in customer relationship management (relevant finance principles, service excellence principles, conversation management, claim management)
- Previous experience in a business dealing with loans is a plus
- Team player
- Computer literacy, particularly good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Self-starter with a passion for Mobisol and its mission to plug in the world
- Fluency in the CO language and English
Qualifications:
- A minimum Holder of bachelor’s degree in business administration, Microfinance, or any other related field
Language(s):
- Fluency in Swahili and English languages with excellent verbal communication skills
Technology:
- Experience in using Microsoft applications, computer, and smartphone literate.
