Job Description
This Position is based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
Candidates must hold the existing right to work and reside in Tanzania.
Responsible for working with senior management to develop financial strategies for the organization, you are comfortable handling large amounts of data, acting as a business partner, decision maker, and providing regular financial reporting.
About the Role
The position is tasked with overseeing the finance projects to drive sustainable growth and plays a pivotal role in high-level strategic decision-making. Collaborating with CEOs, shareholders, and various stakeholders, this role is dedicated to refining all financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, and investments, with a focus on the port and logistics sector. The position involves maintaining and updating accounting practices to ensure accurate financial records and advising on significant capital expenditures and budgeting. The incumbent is also responsible for delivering insightful reports to the CFO for informed financial guidance.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial meetings
- Complete financial accounting and forecasting
- Deliver reports and metrics to leadership
- Strategic Financial Oversight: Craft financial models for major projects or bids, oversee tax plan reviews, contribute to strategic planning, and evaluate significant capex initiatives. Conduct financial due diligence for large-scale acquisitions and ensure seamless integration post-acquisition.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage the full billing cycle for a large site, secure timely payments from customers, optimize vendor and contractor payment schedules, and oversee employee and CAPEX payments. Pursue the recovery of old advances and deposits and reconcile large customer accounts to enhance dispute resolution and recovery rates.
- Resource Management: Secure financial closure for extensive projects, coordinate substantial funding from the parent company, and ensure the large site's capex and opex needs are met on schedule.
- Revenue Optimization: Implement thorough billing systems to secure all revenues for the large site. Explore and capitalize on substantial revenue enhancement opportunities and work closely with high-level executives to drive major revenue-increasing initiatives.
- Cost Management: Refine the budgeting process and enforce budgetary controls. Establish an advanced cost monitoring framework for granular segment analysis and manage month-end provisions for a large-scale financial operation.
- Banking and Financial partnership: Direct extensive banking activities and develop strategic relationships with major financial institutions and external parties, advocating for the financial interests of a large-scale operation.
- Business Advisory: Provide sound financial advice on business transactions, identifying risks and opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with vendors, consultants, and customers, building alliances and partnerships essential for business growth.
- Digital Mindset: Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance business and maintain competitiveness.

- Internal Stakeholders: CEO, CFO, COO, BD Head, Project Head, TC, HR, Project Finance Team, BD Team, Project Team, Engineering Team, PMCG, IT & all other internal stake holders.
- External Stakeholders: Liasioning with Government, Regulatory Authority & Financial Institution
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or related field
- 5 - 7 years of relevant experience
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Skills
- Chartered Accountant CA or ICWA or Graduate from any discipline with MBA/PG in finance (Preferable)
- 10+ Years of Experience in F&A, preferably in a large CAPEX heavy entity.
- Essential: Accounting systems, budgeting and financial reporting, accounts payable & receivable, Direct – indirect taxation management at large corporate, annual budgeting, cashflow management, capex budgeting and financial modelling.
- Desirable: International experience.
