Job Purpose
The Video News Producer is responsible for planning, producing, editing, and publishing high-quality video news content across digital platforms. The role ensures timely, accurate, engaging, and visually compelling news stories that align with the organization's editorial standards and digital content strategy. The Video News Producer works closely with reporters, editors, videographers, graphic designers, and social media teams to deliver impactful multimedia journalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan daily news coverage and determine which stories to produce.
- Research and verify news information before production.
- Assign reporters, camera operators, and editors to news stories.
- Write and review scripts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to editorial standards.
- Coordinate interviews, filming schedules, and live broadcasts.
- Supervise video recording and ensure high production quality.
- Work closely with video editors to produce engaging and timely news packages.
- Ensure all content complies with legal, ethical, and journalistic standards.
- Meet strict deadlines for news broadcasts and digital platforms.
- Collaborate with presenters, newsroom staff, and management throughout the production process.
- Manage breaking news coverage and make timely editorial decisions.
- Publish video content across television, websites, and social media platforms when required.
- Monitor audience engagement and recommend improvements for future content.
- Maintain production equipment and coordinate with technical teams when necessary.
- Manage production budgets and resources where applicable.
Performance Targets
- Deadline Management: Zero tolerance for missed deadlines.
- Customer Service: Continuously review audience comments and feedback, ensuring complaints are resolved within 24 hours.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Film Production, Communication, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in video production, television news, digital media, or a related field.
