Optometrist

The Optometrist will be responsible of the provision of quality health care assistance for patients within the health centre. He/She will be responsible of the supervision of Optometrist staffs in accordance with their level of training and the patient’s acuity. He/She will offer guidance and support, maintain a clean and safe working environment and ensure that all operational tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• To conduct visual analysis;
• To provide optical prescriptions;
• To repair and adjust all spectacles for patients with optical problems;
• To educate patients on primary eye care; and
• To conduct Refraction test for all clients as required.
• Performing both objective and subjective refraction for all patients.
• Evaluating refractive error and documenting in respective files correctly
• Performing additional tests and examinations as required.
• Assisting colleague optometrist in their daily routine work.
• To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by his Supervisor.

​Qualifications, experiences and competencies

• Holder of Diploma in Clinical Optometry or any related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 1 year post-inter working experience with reputable organization.
• Registered with the Optometry council
• Computer Literate
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (both English and Swahili)
• Team worker with client focus
