Background: About Doctors with Africa - CUAMM

Doctors with Africa - CUAMM is a health organization that implements health projects to help availability of quality healthcare especially to the most vulnerable. CUAMM focuses on designing health system strengthening projects, with particular attention to the needs of women and children, and tailored to the specific needs of the countries where the organization carries out projects. Through its evidence-based approach, CUAMM works to remove the barriers preventing communities from accessing health services, and to improve the quality of the same services, to achieve accessible, quality and equitable healthcare for everyone.

Job Title Project Assistant
Project “IMaNHC - Improving Maternal and Neonatal Healthcare (AID 012519/01/1)”_ CUAMM is currently implementing a project “IMaNHC - Improving Maternal and Neonatal Healthcare (AID 012519/01/1)”. It is a project supported by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development and it is part of the development agenda in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. It builds on local opportunities and best practices, with the aim of providing effective EmONC services as close as possible to the clients. CUAMM is responsible of implementing project activities in Zanzibar with the technical support and close collaboration of the Ministry of Health Zanzibar, Centro Salute Globale – Centre for Global Health, CMSR (Community Mobilization for Reciprocal Development) and other partners. Main activities are: Training and mentorship of health staff on assistance to women and children and obstetric and neonatal emergencies; distribution and installation of equipment in the target healthcare facilities; Coordination and participation in regional meetings.

Objectives & Expected Results

OBJECTIVES/ROLES
1. Collaborate with the PM and the Country Office to ensure good and timely implementation of project activities in Zanzibar, through correct planning and monitoring.
2. In Cooperation with the Country Office, ensuring good administration, accounting and financial management of the project in terms of efficient, effective and transparent use of financial resources available, as well as being in full compliance with local and international regulations.
3. To ensure constant communication and collaboration with different stakeholders (including the Government and Development Partners) in Zanzibar so as to promote advocacy and lobbying to ensure achievement of project objectives and CUAMM activities in general.
4. To ensure functioning of the monitoring plan foreseen by the project ensuring smooth flow of data and timely reporting.
5. To ensure timely and correct communication with the donor, in coordination and under the supervision of the Project Manager and the Country Manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience

 Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Accounting, Community Development, Health Systems Management, Social Work and other related fields. Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
 A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in Project Management and /or Administration.
 Must be a good motor vehicle driver with valid driving licence and clean record of traffic offences.
 Previous experience with international NGOs is an asset.
 Residing in Unguja is an asset.
 Fluency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken, is required.
 Computer literacy in MS Office and Internet is required
