Job Description

Hello Zanzibar

We’re Attitude, and we’re coming soon. In 2025, we’re opening our very first hotel outside Mauritius, right here in Matemwe: an adults-only hotel with 74 villas, two restaurants and two bars. It’s a new chapter for us, and we’re putting a lot of heart into making it something special.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and coordinate stewarding team members.​
  • Schedule shifts, delegate tasks, and ensure adequate staffing.​
  • Conduct training and onboarding for new staff.​
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in kitchens, dishwashing areas, and storage rooms.​
  • Monitor proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment.​
  • Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies and kitchen tools.​
  • Order and restock supplies as needed.​
  • Prevent waste and track consumption.​
  • Report maintenance issues related to dishwashing and kitchen equipment.​
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and safely.​
  • Enforce compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.​
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.​
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits.​
  • Maintain records of breakage, loss, and cleaning schedules.​
  • Generate reports on inventory usage and staffing.​
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen, banquet, and service teams.​
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff with logistics and operational needs.​

YOUR QUALITIES: ​​

  • Certificate or diploma in hospitality management, culinary arts, or related field​
  • 2–3 years of experience in stewarding or kitchen operations with 1-2 years in a supervisory or team lead role​
  • Ability to embody and instil Attitude’s DNA and culture within the hotel.​
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an enthusiastic and outgoing personality.​
  • Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards​
  • Operation of dishwashing and kitchen equipment​
  • Basic inventory and stock management​
  • Excellent communication skills: Clear, professional verbal and written skills and fluency in English and Swahili. A third language would be a definite advantage.​
  • An understanding of the African Market will be a definite advantage.​
  • Ability to compete in a fast-paced, dynamic and guest centric environment​
