Job Description

Job Title: Storekeeper

Position Overview: The Storekeeper is responsible for overseeing the efficient receipt, storage, and issuance of materials in the organization's inventory. They play a vital role in maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring that materials are stored securely and in an organized manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receiving and Inspection: Receive incoming materials, verify quantities, and inspect for quality and accuracy against purchase orders or delivery notes.
  2. Storage and Organization: Ensure proper storage of materials to prevent damage or deterioration. Organize inventory in designated storage areas to facilitate easy access and retrieval.
  3. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records using manual or computerized systems. Monitor stock levels and initiate reorder requests as needed to prevent stockouts.
  4. Issuance and Distribution: Issue materials as per requisitions from authorized personnel. Ensure that materials are issued in the correct quantities and to the appropriate departments.
  5. Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation related to inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, and stock adjustments. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  6. Stocktaking and Auditing: Conduct regular stocktaking activities to reconcile physical inventory with system records. Assist in periodic audits to ensure compliance with inventory management procedures.
  7. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures while handling materials. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing inventory management.
  8. Reporting: Prepare reports on inventory status, including stock levels, consumption patterns, and discrepancies. Provide regular updates to management on inventory-related matters. 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma is stores management or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software or systems is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to material handling.
