Job Purpose

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the company's logistics operations by developing and implementing effective distribution strategies aligned with Simba Cement's business objectives. The role focuses on optimizing transport networks, improving operational efficiency, managing strategic partnerships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across logistics functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review effective distribution models aligned with the company's overall business strategy.
• Design and implement logistics and distribution strategies that respond to changing business needs and market conditions.
• Manage relationships with road transporters, railway operators, and other strategic logistics partners to achieve business objectives.
• Ensure smooth and compliant operation of weighbridges in accordance with government regulations.
• Oversee the movement and management of trucks at parking yards and weighbridge facilities.
• Develop and implement backhauling strategies for both inbound and outbound logistics activities.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives across logistics operations to improve efficiency and visibility.
• Supervise the management and performance of company depots across the country.
• Monitor and control logistics operating costs while ensuring compliance with administrative procedures.
• Lead, mentor, and manage logistics teams to achieve departmental goals and performance targets.
• Ensure regular inspection of trucks, tracking visibility, and verification of licenses, insurance coverage, and allowable payload limits.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) requirements and company safety standards.
• Promote adherence to environmental policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
• Ensure compliance with Heidelberg Materials Group Code of Business Conduct, compliance policies, and operational guidelines.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA or postgraduate studies in Sales and Marketing will be an added advantage.
• Professional certifications such as CSCP, SCOR-P, CSCMP, or CPL will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Supply Chain Management environment with exposure to transport, logistics, planning, and warehousing functions.
• Experience working closely with sales functions.
• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and practices.
• Good knowledge of the cement industry and its operational requirements.
• Understanding of macroeconomic factors and relevant government legislation affecting logistics operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and other relevant business software applications.
