Position Summary
The Program Officer supports the implementation of D-tree’s programs and activities in Tanzania Mainland. Working closely with program teams, government counterparts, implementing partners, and other stakeholders, the role contributes to effective program delivery, coordination of activities, monitoring of progress, and documentation of program learning. This role provides an opportunity for an early-career professional to develop experience in public health programming, digital health solutions, stakeholder engagement, data use, and program operations while contributing to initiatives that improve health outcomes.

Key Responsibilitiess

Specific responsibilities include:

Coordination & Implementation (80%)

  • Supporting the planning, coordination, and logistics of program activities, including meetings, training, workshops, and stakeholder engagements involving government counterparts, implementing partners, NCD stakeholders, Afya Jamii system, CHWs, facility health workers, and supervisors).
  • Supporting field and remote follow-up activities to monitor implementation progress, document challenges, and support timely follow-up actions including supporting NCD initiatives, Afya Jamii system users, and cross-cutting program implementation
  • Provide coordination and technical guidance of community health activities being planned by cross-cutting community health partners in Tanzania Mainland, ensuring cohesion and avoiding duplication of efforts.
  • Regularly review Afya Jamii system dashboards to understand trends and health impacts; use data to identify areas for improvement and propose strategies to improve system and program performance
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly and quarterly activity plans, implementation schedules, and related program documentation.
  • Supporting the collection, organization, and analysis of program information related to health facility activities, service delivery, and implementation progress.
  • Supporting preparation of program inputs for proposals, presentations, reports, and other program materials.
  • Documenting program activities, lessons learned, and implementation experiences to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Communication and Representation (20%)

  • Preparing and maintaining accurate program records, updates, and reports on assigned activities.
  • Supporting communication and coordination with government counterparts, implementing partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Participating in program meetings, technical discussions, and stakeholder engagements as appropriate.
  • Sharing timely updates with internal teams on assigned activities, progress, challenges, and follow-up actions.
  • Supporting development of program stories, updates, and other communication materials in collaboration with D-tree’s Communications team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health sciences, social sciences, development studies, or a related field.
  • At minimum, 2–3 years of experience supporting implementation of  health programs, community health initiatives, digital health projects, or related areas.
  • Experience supporting program coordination, data collection, reporting, or stakeholder engagement is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teams and partners.
  • Basic analytical skills and ability to work with program information and digital tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and willingness to learn new systems.

Salary Range: 

The salary range for this role is  TSh. 32,901,050 to TSh. 47,001,500 per year. While salary offers typically begin at the lower end of the range, candidates who bring strong, directly relevant expertise and exceptional value may be placed higher within the range, in line with D-tree’s compensation approach and internal equity considerations. The full range reflects pay across the job level, including potential growth in this role over time.
