Country Security Manager Tanzania

What This Position Is About – Purpose

You will serve as the security lead for JTI in Tanzania, with delegated authority from the Regional Corporate Security Director and close collaboration with the Tanzania General Manager, Factory Lead, and local leadership teams. You will provide security strategy, oversight, and support across all JTI operations in Tanzania, ensuring a risk-based, cost-effective approach that adds value to the business.

Key responsibilities include risk assessments, crisis and incident management, personnel security (including travel, events, and executive protection), and the development and maintenance of physical security standards through audits and assessments. You will also conduct background checks, due diligence, and investigations, while managing and developing local security teams.

In addition, you will build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, intelligence and security agencies, and external partners. You may also be required to provide regional security support as directed by the Regional Corporate Security Director.

What Will You Do - Responsibilities

  • Risk & Crisis Management Lead country security programs, maintain the Security Risk Register, support crisis response, investigations, and incident management training, and recommend strategies to mitigate security risks.
  • People & Asset Security Oversee security programs to protect employees, executives, visitors, and company assets; provide travel security support, conduct security audits and assessments, and strengthen supply chain security.
  • Investigations Conduct or support objective investigations into security-related incidents in collaboration with Compliance, Legal, People & Culture, Corporate Audit, Health & Safety, and Operations.
  • Networking Build strong relationships with business leadership, cross-functional teams, law enforcement, government agencies, security organizations, and industry associations to support security initiatives.
  • Financial Management Develop and manage the annual security budget, oversee security service providers and vendor contracts, and ensure effective allocation of security resources.
  • Talent Management Lead and develop the local Corporate Security team through coaching, succession planning, and participation in the Corporate Security Talent Development Program.

Whom Are We Looking For – Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in security/risk management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of exceptional experience and demonstrated achievement.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, PCI) are preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the military, law enforcement, intelligence, or corporate security within the private sector.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili language; additional local languages are an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) with strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of security management systems, incident reporting platforms, and data analysis tools is an advantage.
