Job Description
The HSE Manager/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and implementing health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a safe and sustainable work environment. This role involves monitoring, assessing, and improving safety practices across all operations while ensuring a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections across operational areas.
- Identify and assess risks associated with operations, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Training and Development:
- Plan and coordinate HSE training for employees to promote a safety-first culture.
- Provide ongoing education on HSE best practices, ensuring all employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Conduct safety drills and emergency response exercises.
- Incident Management and Reporting:
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all incidents as per regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with management to develop strategies for preventing similar incidents.
- Safety Equipment and Practices:
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure its availability and adequacy.
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and machinery.
- Promote safe work practices through regular monitoring and feedback.
- Environmental Sustainability:
- Develop and implement environmental initiatives to minimize the company’s carbon footprint and waste.
- Ensure adherence to environmental policies, regulations, and sustainability goals.
- Oversee waste management and disposal processes in compliance with local regulations.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate HSE records and documentation for audits and inspections.
- Prepare and submit regular HSE performance reports to senior management.
- Monitor HSE key performance indicators (KPIs) and suggest continuous improvement actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE management or supervision, preferably within industry or food and etc.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal HSE regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and accident reporting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and influence all levels of employees.
- Proficient in HSE software and Microsoft Office Suite.
