Job Description
We’re looking for a dynamic Sales & Marketing Manager to drive the success of our vodka brand Mwamba across Tanzania and East Africa. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, building strong brand recognition, and ensuring consistent growth and profitability in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership (50%)
- Develop and implement a strategic go-to-market plan for retail, on-trade (bars, lounges, restaurants), and wholesale channels.
- Conduct regular market visits to track availability, pricing, and competitor activity.
- Design and roll out sales incentives to motivate agents and field teams.
- Cultivate and manage strong relationships with key distributors, retail partners, and accounts.
- Achieve sales targets, both monthly and annually, ensuring consistent revenue growth.
Brand & Marketing Development (35%)
- Shape the brand’s story, positioning, and messaging to resonate with Tanzanian and East African consumers.
- Oversee digital marketing campaigns, including social media, influencers, and local content creators.
- Lead the creation of product packaging and promotional materials that appeal to local tastes.
- Plan and execute brand activations, tasting events, sponsorships, and partnerships with key nightlife venues.
- Conduct market research to gain insights and drive product innovation.
Team & Performance Management (15%)
- Recruit, train, and guide a team of sales reps or brand ambassadors.
- Set clear KPIs for team performance, market coverage, and brand visibility.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of sales and marketing efforts, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Sales Growth: Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Market Reach: Expand the brand’s presence through new distributors and outlets.
- Brand Visibility: Achieve optimal shelf space, promotional presence, and event participation.
- Consumer Engagement: Measure social media interaction, event participation, and trial-to-purchase rates.
- Marketing ROI: Assess the impact of campaigns on overall sales and brand growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field (an MBA is a plus).
- At least 5 years of experience in FMCG or the beverage/alcohol industry (spirits, beer,).
- Strong understanding of Tanzanian liquor regulations and taxation.
- Proven success in building market share and growing brands within Tanzania or East Africa.
- Established network with distributors, wholesalers, and key accounts.
- Fluent in both English and Swahili, with excellent communication skills.
