Role Summary

The Technical Manager acts as the engineering backbone of ETC Cargo Limited’s operations. Will report directly to the Business Head to ensure the technical reliability of our assets matches operational demands. The role involves dual responsibilities: ensuring the continuous efficiency of the fertilizer bagging and blending plants and managing the lifecycle/maintenance of the heavy logistics fleet (Reach Stackers, Earth Moving Equipment, and Forklifts).

Key Responsibilities

1. Fertilizer Plant Maintenance & Operations

• Plant Reliability: Oversee the running and maintenance of fertilizer bagging lines. Ensure minimum downtime during peak discharge and bagging operations.
• Process Integrity: Maintain calibration of weighing scales and stitching machines to ensure product accuracy.
• Preventive Maintenance: Execute a strict scheduled maintenance plan for conveyor belts, hoppers, sewing heads, electrical motors, and PLC control systems.
• Modifications: Propose and implement technical modifications to the plant to increase Tons Per Hour (TPH) throughput and reduce spillage.

2. Heavy Equipment & Fleet Management

• Fleet Readiness: Guarantee the availability of the mobile fleet—specifically Reach Stackers, Forklifts, Excavators, and Wheel Loaders—to support cargo movement.
• Hydraulics & Engines: Supervise advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic lifting systems.
• Spares & Inventory: Manage the technical store, ensuring critical fast-moving spares (filters, seals, belts) are in stock without over-inflating inventory costs.
• Third-Party Repairs: Vigorously manage external service providers for specialized repairs, ensuring quality work and cost control.

3. Leadership & HSSE

• Safety Compliance: champion a "Safety First" culture. Ensure all machinery operations comply with local statutory regulations and best practices for chemical handling.
• Team Management: Lead, roster, and train a technical team of fitters, electricians, welders, and plant operators.
• Reporting: Provide weekly technical reports to the Operations Manager detailing asset availability, breakdown hours, and maintenance costs.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plant Engineering.
• Experience: 7+ years in a technical leadership role, ideally within Logistics, Port Operations, or Fertilizer Processing.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Heavy Plant Maintenance (Reach Stackers/Yellow Metal).
• Experience with Conveyor Systems and Bagging Technology.
• Proficiency in hydraulic systems and troubleshooting.
• Soft Skills: Excellent time management, ability to work under pressure during vessel discharge, and strong leadership capabilities.
