Job Description The primary role of the Quality Controller is the execution of general or specialist analyses, the interpretation of results, and the resolution of problems identified through those analyses. Additionally, this role facilitates problem-solving sessions, coaches and mentors team members, and conducts quality audits.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Performing Analysis
- Carry out relevant analyses and review analysis schedules daily.
- Ensure information is recorded on Infinity systems (or Excel) and perform trend analysis to identify problems.
Interpreting Results
- Review results daily to identify issues and interact with lab technicians and production management to highlight problems.
- Ensure resolutions are identified for highlighted problems and communicate findings at feedback meetings.
Problem Solving & Facilitation
- Use appropriate techniques to undertake problem-solving for out-of-control triggers.
- Develop action plans, assign responsibilities, and verify that corrective actions have resolved the issue.
- Update manuals and work instructions to prevent recurrence.
Coaching & Auditing
- Identify teams and individuals requiring coaching through training needs analyses and quality audits.
- Coach lab technicians and production teams on quality analysis on an ad hoc basis.
- Review auditing schedules and complete monthly or quarterly quality audits, providing feedback to the QC manager.
Maintenance
- Carry out required maintenance as per instrumentation schedules.
- Apply problem-solving techniques to determine equipment issues and verify proper functioning after maintenance.
Skills, Experience & Education
Education
- B.Sc. Degree in Food Science and Technology or Laboratory Science.
- Diploma in Lab Science, Food Science, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in a Food Processing Plant.
- Strong process knowledge, preferably within a bottling environment.
- Prior experience in a quality control environment is an advantage.
Skills

- Ability to drive a Quality Culture within the organization.
- Understanding of Manufacturing Processes and SC Ways principles.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Infinity/Achiever systems.
