LOCATION: Nyanzaga Gold Project, Tanzania
Full-Time
- Fly to site from anywhere in the world
- FIFO 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off with Immediate Start
- ASX & TSX-listed gold producer
The Role
Perseus Mining is seeking a Geology Superintendent to provide technical leadership at the Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania.
This role will oversee grade control, mine geology, and reconciliation functions, ensuring alignment with Perseus Mining’s operational and regulatory standards. Working a six weeks on, three weeks off roster and reporting to the Nyanzaga Mine Manager, this role will:
- Supervise and support Geology personnel, ensuring adherence to operational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage staff performance through goal setting, feedback, and structured training, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Implement and maintain procedures for effective grade control, mine geology operations, and mine-to-mill reconciliation, while ensuring data accuracy and compliance with company standards.
About you
In addition to a BSc in Geology or Geological Engineering, with preferred additional qualifications including a Masters in Geology or Geological Engineering, and/or post-graduate credentials in geostatistics, our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 12 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years specifically in open pit gold mining operations.
- Technical knowledge in mineral resource estimation and reconciliation methodologies
- Good written (English) and oral (English and Swahili) communication and report writing skills
- Proficient user of MS Office suite
- Knowledge of contemporary technology applied to open pit mining
- Strong organisation, planning, negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills
- Good working knowledge of geology-related QA/QC standards and methods
- A strong financial acumen with the ability to track costs, maintain budgets, and ensure cost-effectiveness in grade control and mine geology operations.
- Competence in procedural knowledge, including initiating, documenting, and maintaining procedures.
- Proficiency in data management to monitor and ensure accuracy of geological data.
Where You’ll Be Working
Located in East Africa’s resource rich Lake Victoria Goldfields, the Nyanzaga Gold Project is Perseus’s first operation in Tanzania. Nyanzaga is currently in the early stages of construction, following a Final Investment Decision made in April 2025 with first gold production is targeted for early 2027.
The project places strong emphasis on sustainability and community development, with programs focused on local employment, infrastructure investment, and long-term social and environmental outcomes.
