Job role

Job Purpose

To effectively operate and monitor all milling plant units through the DCS and routine field checks, ensuring optimal process performance, maximum mill extraction, and uninterrupted operations.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform mill pre-start checks on DCS together with mill attendant who is at site i.e.; All mills Drive units, inter-carriers and the inclined carrier.
• Communicate to Front End Foreman before staring the mill.
• Perform on run checks together with Mill Attendant i.e. any leakage, blockage, abnormal sounds/operation etc.
• Control mill parameters to achieve maximum mill extraction.
• Monitor mechanical/electrical parameters during mill operation i.e., oil flow, current for mill conveyors, carriers and inter carriers.
• Ensure Cane table operator is feeding appropriate.
• Achieve mill daily KPI as updated in weekly basis.
• Ensure risk of DCS override has been eliminated before any repair/fix occurred during operation.
• Assist maintenance team prior fixing mill abnormalities or faults.
• Communicate to Front End Foreman/Mill attendant or in any state of emergency.
• Team up with other mill staff to fix all breakdowns/maintenance at the station.
• Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by what you do or do not do.
• Record parameters on registers.

Qualifications

Job Qualification and Experience

• Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/ or Trade test II in fitter mechanics
• Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is an added Advantage
• 2+ years of experience in mill operation.
• Basic training of industrial safety/ Ability to identify hazards and asses associated risks at mill operations
