Job Purpose:

• The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure lime and flocculent preparation and its availability at the right time for both juice and mud preparation.
• Monitor all associated equipment for lime and flocculent preparation following procedure and good practice ensuring that operations are running optimally

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring proper operations of Lime station and flocculant preparation. Whenever there is a Clarification and filtration Operator, there should be liaise with him to ensure consistent operation and performance.
• Good operating condition of the Lime station is to be ensured by the Lime and flocculent preparation station attendant. In case of abnormal sound and/or any defect noticed, the Lime and flocculent station attendant needs to report this to the Raw House Foreman.
• The Lime station attendant needs to ensure that auxiliary equipment such as agitator motor, lime dosing pumps, grit removal screen, are in good running condition by periodically inspecting them and reporting any defect identified.
• Attending meetings as well as training for improvement initiatives.
• Lime and flocculent station attendant is to ensure that the KPI are within their operating range by ensuring all work instructions are followed and troubleshooting with the help of the troubleshooting guide. In case this exercise is unsuccessful, attendant needs to report this to Raw House Foreman and PTL.
• The Lime and flocculent station attendant needs to ensure good housekeeping on Lime and flocculent station. The walkway needs to be free of any hazard. Spillage and leaks need to be addressed as far as possible or reported and tagged. Cleaning of the station is to be done when necessary while ensuring that all machineries are clean and well working.
• Ensure sampling of the Milk of Lime for every batch Baume measurement
• The Lime and flocculent station attendant is responsible for inspecting and cleaning the grit removal screen and flocculent screen to ensure working efficiency of the screen to remove grit which can eventually choke the lime line
• Record the quantity/ number of lime bags used.
• For long stops cane crushing, lime attendant must ensure the lime supply pipe is flashed with water to avoid continuous lime build up.
• During emergency stops, the Lime and flocculent station attendant shall be assigned other tasks such Lime station maintenance but not restricted to only these.
• The Lime station attendant needs to ensure a proper handing over at the end of his shift.
• Ensure proper communication with Process Control room operator to allow smooth operation and provide feedback to Raw House Foreman or advise on lime or flocculent stock.
• Ensure on time report of any situation to your Superior that is non-conforming to required standards, unsafe, or unhealthy, or anything that threatens to impact on the environment comes to your attention.
• Ensure on time report of any incident that may affect your health, or which has caused an injury to you, or impacted on the environment.
• All tasks must be performed with “awareness” towards the prevention of any forms of pollution to the surrounding and environment.
• Carries out any other requested duties relating to the plant.

Must Have Skills:

• Knowledge of sugar Preparation Knowledge on safety and lock out Procedures

Qualifications:

• Certificate in Sugar Processing from recognized Institute or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education.
• 3 years working in the Sugar Factory
