How will you contribute to Early Childhood Development impact?
The Individual Contract will play a key role in supporting Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) Malezi III Project. These include support assessment activities such as conducting exit interviews and observations. The Individual Contractors will work closely with the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Project team, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, Research and Evaluation team and the Acting Senior Manager Early Childhood Development to implement assessment activities for EGPAF Malezi III Project in assessment councils in Arusha and Tabora regions. This role will position EGPAF Tanzania as a leader in implementing ECD related assessments aiming at improving ECD services for children, adolescents, and their families.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Exit interviews and observations: Conduct exit interviews and observations with caregivers at Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) and Out – Patient Department (OPD) clinics.
  • Exit interviews and observations: Conduct exit interviews and observations with Community Health Workers (CHWs) working at RCH and OPD clinics.

Qualifications

To be successful, you will have

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, social science, statistics or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree is a strong advantage.
  • Graduates with a major in public health, sociology or a related field may be considered.

Experience:

  • High experience in conducting assessments in field settings.
  • High experience in conducting interviews and observations.
  • Previous experience with EGPAF in assessment activities is a strong advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in assessment tools and technologies, including software like REDCap, ODK, and KoboToolbox.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with assessment methodologies.
  • Understanding of information privacy and confidentiality practices.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong ethical conduct and integrity.
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and empathetic manner.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in varying field conditions and environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to various assessment sites, including remote or underserved areas, to work beyond regular hours when necessary.
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis using STATA, SPSS or SAS is an added advantage.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) began supporting HIV and AIDS programming in Tanzania in 2003 and established a country office in 2004. Since then, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other key partners, EGPAF has expanded its scope to include integrated HIV, GBV, TB, and Family Planning  and Early Childhood services. EGPAF Tanzania’s efforts focus on client-centered approaches that address gaps in health service delivery and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations, including children and adolescents.
