Transport Officer

OVERVIEW.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Transport Officer to oversee our truck fleet operations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in fleet management, be proficient in database management, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION.

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the transport department.
• Supervise and lead a team of drivers and workshop personnel.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Manage truck permits and border permits to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement transportation policies to improve efficiency and safety.
• Monitor fuel consumption and implement strategies to optimize fuel efficiency.
• Address driver misconduct and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to the transport team.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in transport management or a related field.
• Knowledge of basic mechanics and vehicle maintenance.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Experience with obtaining and managing truck permits and border permits.
• Ability to develop and implement transportation policies.
• Familiarity with fuel consumption ratios and strategies for optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience in driver management and the ability to incentivize and discipline drivers effectively.
