Job Description
To drive sales growth, provide technical agronomy support, and build strong customer relationships for our agricultural inputs, mainly seeds, fertilizer across the Southern Region.
2. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Sales & Revenue Growth
- Achieve sales targets and volume growth for Southern Region
- Manage existing agro-dealers, stockists, and large-scale farmers in Njombe, Mbinga,Songea, Tunduru
- Recruit, onboard, and activate new customers and distributors
- Prepare weekly work plans, route plans and monthly sales forecasts
- Follow up on orders, deliveries, and ensure timely collections - debtor management
B. Agronomy & Field Support
- Provide on-farm agronomic advisory on horticultural seeds,maize and sunflower production
- Establish and manage demo plots, and Field Days for all seeds available and new varieties
- Conduct farm visits and farmer trainings to promote Good Agricultural Practices
- Collect field data - germination %, pest/disease incidence, yield data - and submit reports
- Support farmers from planting to harvesting to ensure product performance
C. Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Track weekly competitor pricing, stock levels, and activities in the South
- Monitor market price changes and report using the Price Tracker template
- Report on customer needs, product complaints and market opportunities
- Submit daily/weekly activity reports and Farmer Assessment Reports on time
D. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with agro-dealers, government extension officers, NGOs, and cooperatives
- Represent the company in agricultural shows, exhibitions, and district meetings
- Handle customer queries and returns professionally as per company policy
3. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma/BSc in Agriculture, Agronomy, General Agriculture, Crop Production
- Minimum 2-3years field experience in sales agronomy in Southern Highlands
- Strong knowledge of horticulture,maize value chain and Southern Region agro-ecology
- Must be a resident or willing to be based in Songea with extensive travel
- Valid motorcycle license - Class A - with ability to ride long distances in rural areas
- Computer literate - Excel, Word, WhatsApp reporting,Microsoft teams is an added advantage
4. COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
- Proven sales and negotiation skills with track record of meeting targets
- Excellent agronomic and extension skills
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Fluent in Swahili & English
- Strong interpersonal skills and integrity
- Resilience to work in hard-to-reach areas during planting season
