The Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) invites applications from qualified and motivated Tanzanian graduates to fill various internship positions for the 2026/2027 financial year.
This internship programme is specifically designed to provide young graduates with:

1. ICT TECHNICIAN - 2 POSTS
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assist in the repair and maintenance of computers and audio-visual equipment.
- To assist in ensuring that computers are in good working condition in computer laboratories.
- To provide basic ICT assistance and technical support to end users.
- To assist students during their practical sessions in the laboratories under supervision.
- To carry out specified routine technical tasks as guided by the supervisor.
- To perform any other relevant learning duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of a Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Computer Science from a recognized institution.
2. ICT OFFICER II - NETWORK - 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To design, install and configure LAN and WAN infrastructure.
- To review LAN and WAN architecture.
- To test network equipment and devices.
- To implement network security plans.
- To perform network troubleshooting.
- To undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree (NTA Level 8) in:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Computer Engineering
- Or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
3. TECHNICIAN II - ELECTRICAL - 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out specified tasks related to electrical simulators, workshops, and laboratory practicals, students' projects, research, consultancy, offices, classes and services under close supervision.
- To assist in the repair and maintenance of electrical simulators, workshops, and laboratory facilities.
- To assist senior staff in related areas of electrical operations.
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of either:
- A Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Electrical Engineering
- A Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Electrical Engineering
- Or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
4. TECHNICIAN II - REFRIGERATION - 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out specified tasks related to refrigeration and air-conditioning simulators, workshops, classes, offices, laboratory practicals, students' projects, research, consultancy, and services under close supervision.
- To assist in the repair and maintenance of refrigeration and air-conditioning simulators, workshops, and laboratory facilities.
- To assist senior staff in related areas of refrigeration and air-conditioning operations.
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of:
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC), or
- Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering, or
- Diploma in Mechanical/HVAC, or
- Equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
5. TECHNICIAN I - CIVIL - 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out specified tasks related to civil engineering/construction workshops or laboratory practicals, students’ projects, research, consultancy, and services under close supervision.
- To assist in the repair and maintenance of civil engineering workshops and laboratory facilities.
- To assist senior staff in related areas of civil engineering operations.
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of either:
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC)
- Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Civil Engineering
- Or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
6. ARTISAN II - PLUMBING - 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To perform specified plumbing craft jobs under close supervision.
- To record plumbing repair and maintenance reports.
- To assist in conducting plumbing repair and maintenance activities.
- To assist in ensuring the safety and security of plumbing facilities and personnel.
- To take care of plumbing tools and equipment.
- To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of Form IV or Form VI Certificate of Secondary Education, plus one of the following:
- Certificate in Plumbing
- Trade Test II in Plumbing
- National Vocational Award Level II (NVA II) in Plumbing
- Or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
ARTISAN II - CARPENTRY - 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To perform specified carpentry craft jobs under close supervision.
- To record carpentry repair and maintenance reports.
- To assist in conducting carpentry repair and maintenance activities.
- To assist in ensuring the safety and security of carpentry facilities and personnel.
- To take care of carpentry tools and equipment.
- To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of Form IV or Form VI Certificate of Secondary Education, plus one of the following:
- Certificate in Carpentry
- Trade Test II in Carpentry
- National Vocational Award Level II (NVA II) in Carpentry
- Or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

7. PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER II - 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To collect and compile news for the Institute's newsletter.
- To collect and compile information to assist in the preparation of annual reports, booklets, speeches, prospectuses, etc.
- To ensure proper recording and filing of press cuttings for public relations purposes and responses.
- To assist in facilitating conferences, seminars, ceremonies, and the production of radio and television programmes.
- To deal with customer inquiries relating to the quality and availability of services.
- To supervise the production and distribution of:
- Calendars
- Diaries
- Greeting cards
- Posters
- To report public criticisms and complaints to the immediate supervisor.
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate superior.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Public Relations
- Journalism
- Mass Communication
- International Relations
- Business Communication
- Or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
