Job Description

LAINA Finance is an award-winning integrated financial service provider for consumers and businesses in the East African market. The company aims to make financial services accessible and affordable for more people in developing countries. Established through long term Finnish-Tanzanian co-operation, LAINA provides and develops a financing platform including risk management tools, credit-decision engine, loan management system, and integrations to operational systems. The company's platform enables microloans or purchase finance to be integrated into any payment transaction, enabling consumers to pay in installments, and contributes to boosting business partners' sales by enabling flexible payment options. LAINA's services are device and service independent and risk-free for partners unless otherwise agreed.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid Full Stack Developer role, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with the flexibility of remote work. As part of the LAINA team, the Full Stack Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and services that support the company's mission and business goals. This involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and provide customized solutions. The Full Stack Developer will also be required to ensure software quality, security, and maintain high code standards.

Qualifications

  • No need for past experience
  • Knowledge of both front-end and back-end technologies, such as HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, PHP, and Node.js
  • Familiarity with database technology, such as SQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
  • Experience with API creation and maintenance
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, test-driven development, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and DevOps principles
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Diploma or higher education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
