During my Industrial Practical Training at TANESCO, I gained extensive hands-on experience by working closely with technical staff in power system operations. I participated in transformer inspections and routine condition checks, conducted monitoring activities, and observed protection and control systems in operation while ensuring strict adherence to transmission line maintenance procedures. My training involved inspection of transmission towers, switchgear inspections, and supporting the installation and testing of energy meters for customers. I was involved in low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) fault identification and troubleshooting, which enhanced my understanding of utility operations and real-world power system practices. I also gained practical exposure to electrical safety standards, operational procedures, electric power distribution systems, substation operations, and field maintenance activities. Additionally, I assisted in timely fault resolution and service restoration and participated in substation activities at Babati and Kondoa line areas. This experience strengthened my technical competence, deepened my practical skills, and improved my understanding of the challenges within a national electricity utility.
