Overview
The Water Institute (WI) is a semi-autonomous public institution under Tanzania’s Ministry of Water & Irrigation, established on 22 August 2008 by Executive Agency Act, and formally renamed from the Water Development and Management Institute to Water Institute in 2016. It traces its origins back to the Water Resources Institute, founded in 1974 to address the critical need for trained professionals engineers, technicians, and craftsmen in Tanzania’s rural water supply sector.
