Job Summary

The accountant collaborates with Financial Controller and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Managing all Bureau Veritas statutory in Tanzania including online Portals with TRA.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial transactions in accordance with company procedures and accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax regulations including, VAT , Withholding taxes, Instalment taxes, PAYE, City Levy, NSSF, SDL, WCR.
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies during audits and compliance reviews.
  • Monthly tax report and compliance
  • Monthly P&L Review with all Business Unit Managers
  • Identify financial risks, discrepancies, and operational weaknesses while recommending corrective measures.
  • Quarterly Tax health checks and support chief accountant in all Audits
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
  • Maintaining a physical and digital record of financial documents
  • In charge of BRELA and other statutory Registration
  • Support debt collection and AR reconciliations.
  • Perform any other job that may be assigned by the Finance Manager

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
  • Must possess CPA (T) certification recognized by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, financial regulations, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, Sage, or ERP systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple tasks effectively.
