Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our team in Dar es Salaam. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations, and contributing to the financial health of our two thriving Tanzanian entities.

Role requirements

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Prepare and process monthly and annual financial statements in conjunction with Tanzanian accounting requirements
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage accounts payable/receivable
  • Working with management team to calculate trading position on a monthly basis
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax laws and regulations
  • Manage the mobile money process to ensure employee field expenses are paid in a timely manner
  • Assist our Human Resources team with processing of payroll
  • Implement internal financial controls and procedures
  • Prepare budgets and financial forecasts in line with group reporting requirements
  • Assist our accounting partner with annual audits for both entities
  • Monitor cash flow and report to the Management
  • Provide financial analysis and reports to Management

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA, Fully Qualified)
  • Qualifications in Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be an added advantage
  • Must be registered and licenced by National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) Tanzania
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in Tanzania and within East Africa
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Understanding of the Tanzanian business environment

Desirable attributes

  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws and financial regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment at all levels of the business, inside and outside of the immediate team, both locally and internationally
