Job Description
Nature and Scope
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Accountant. He/She will be responsible to the Chief Accountant in carrying out the Enterprise’s financial and accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in supervising daily financial accounting operations, including the maintenance of source documents, Books of Prime Entry, and the general ledger.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and promptly.
- Support the payroll function and ensure accurate and timely disbursement of salaries.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Help manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and comply with accounting standards.
- Assist in reconciling bank statements, ledgers, and other financial accounts.
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records.
- Carry out any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (Business Administration) from a recognised University/Institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance role, particularly within a cooperative organisation in the cashew industry.
- Enrollment in a professional certification program (CPA, ACCA) is a significant advantage.
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- A comprehensive understanding of the operational framework of cooperatives in Tanzania is a significant advantage.
