- Implement and maintain robust cost control frameworks, including cost allocation methodologies and cost centre structures.
- Monitor expenditures against approved budgets and authorizations, ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Support operations in developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, efficiency, and cost.
- Identify cost saving and efficiency improvement opportunities across mining, processing, maintenance, G&A, and support functions.
- Participate in operational reviews and improvement projects (e.g., fleet optimization, maintenance planning, energy usage).
4. Capital Projects & Asset Management:
- Provide financial evaluation and analysis of capital expenditure proposals (e.g., NPV, IRR, payback).
- Monitor capital project budgets and actuals, including work in progress reconciliations and project close out reviews.
- Support asset life of mine planning and sustaining capital forecasting in conjunction with technical teams.
5. Compliance, Governance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to company policies, IFRS/IAS (or other relevant standards), and Tanzanian regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audit processes, providing requested information and addressing findings.
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, including reconciliations, approvals, and documentation.
- Assist in improving financial systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency and control.
6. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
- Work closely with the Senior Management Accountant to provide financial insight and support.
- Present financial and operational performance to site leadership, explaining complex financial information in clear, non technical terms.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification preferred (CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ post qualification experience in management accounting or financial analysis.
- Experience in the mining industry (gold preferable) or other heavy industry/resources sector strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and management reporting in a large, complex organisation.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian tax and regulatory environment is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
