CEO Job Analysis – Transportation Company (China – Tanzania)
Position Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Reports to Founder / Board of Directors
Purpose of the Role
To lead the company’s operations and growth by overseeing international logistics, building partnerships in China and Tanzania, ensuring legal compliance, managing finances, and delivering excellent customer service while achieving the company’s business goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s long-term business strategy.
- Identify new business opportunities in China–Tanzania trade.
- Expand the company’s customer base and service offerings.
2. Operations Management
- Oversee freight movement by sea, air, or land.
- Ensure shipments are delivered efficiently and on time.
- Improve operational processes to reduce costs and increase reliability.
3. Financial Management
- Prepare and monitor budgets.
- Manage cash flow and profitability.
- Review financial reports and approve major expenditures.
4. Business Development
- Build relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, shipping lines, airlines, and logistics partners in China.
- Develop relationships with importers and exporters in Tanzania.
- Negotiate contracts with key business partners.
5. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with customs, tax, transport, and trade laws in both China and Tanzania.
- Oversee company policies on risk management and governance.
6. Team Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and evaluate senior managers.
- Foster a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Set performance targets and review results.
7. Customer Relations
- Meet with major clients.
- Resolve high-level customer issues.
- Maintain the company’s reputation for reliable service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- An MBA is an advantage.
Experience
- At least 7–10 years in logistics, freight forwarding, shipping, transportation, or international trade.
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
- Experience working with China–Africa trade is highly desirable.
