Job Description
Responsible for monitoring the quality of the Agri Retail Loans portfolio by tracking arrears across branch networks, ensuring timely rectification of identified issues, and following up on the submission of post-approval loan conditions and supporting documentation.
Main Responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise the performance and quality of the entire Agri-Retail loan portfolio issued and disbursed across the branch network
- Conduct daily and weekly analysis of key portfolio (delinquency, concentration, repayment trends) to manage early warning signals and recommend timely intervention strategies to the branch network.
- Ensure Agri-Retail loan products are processed and delivered according to Standard Operating Procedures and credit policies, escalating procedural deviations to the Line Manager for corrective action.
- Support the growth of the asset book by conducting daily, weekly, and monthly performance tracking per Relationship Manager (RM) and branch against budgetary targets.
- Collaborate with Credit operations and Credit admin team to support efficient loan disbursement processes to enhance turnaround time (TAT) for the field teams.
- Monthly review of KRI for Agri retail on client products and business practice, Lending (Annual facility review) and regular compliance.
- Review issues related to Agri Retail logged in NMB Cure and provide solutions or forward to respective line Manager for inputs and closure.
- Timely preparation of detailed periodical and ad-hoc evaluation reports on Agri-Retail performance, covering both assets (loan quality, growth) and liabilities (deposits) on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis for senior management.
- Train and coach field Relationship Officers (ROs/RMs) on various business best practices, lending processes, and accurate evaluation/assessment methodologies for Agri-Retail loan applicants.
- Actively participate in departmental sales, portfolio quality, and planning meetings, providing data-driven insights and representing the monitoring function.
- Support the network in the successful execution of various strategic initiatives, such as rural banking expansion or new product rollouts.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Sound knowledge of Agribusiness economics, the role of credit in business and business development.
- Sound knowledge of Agribusiness Retail Banking products and services in the agricultural value chains.
- Excellent knowledge of agriculture sector dynamics and related laws.
- Sound understanding of other banks' loan products, policies and procedures for cross selling purposes.
- Excellent knowledge of banking operations and financial markets in Tanzania.
- Sound knowledge of Agri market and general business environments in the agriculture value chains.
- Computer proficiency (Excel, word, power point presentation and access)
- Excellent communication (English and Kiswahili), numerical, analytical, report writing and presentation skills
- Self-motivated, innovative with ability to initiate and lead change.
- Good customer relationship management with ambition to provide solutions to customers' expectations.
- Managerial and leadership skills (conceptual and resourcefulness)
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills for both internal and external customers
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- People management, representation, team building and developing high performing teams
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree
- Relevant certification(s) subject to the specific role requirements.
- Master's degree in business studies is an added advantage
- Postgraduate education in Banking and/or Banking certification(s) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years' banking experience, inclusive roles in credit assessment, project appraisal and other bank operations
