Job Description
Tumaini La Maisha Tanzania at Muhimbili National Hospital is a nonprofit initiative focused on improving outcomes and quality of care for children and families affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. Role Description
The Strategic Communication, Fundraising and Events Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Dar es-Salaam at Muhimbili National Hospital. This role is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that raise awareness of the organization’s mission, programs, and impact across traditional and digital channels. Day-to-day tasks include preparing communication materials, managing social media and press outreach, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring consistent, clear messaging. The role also involves designing and executing fundraising campaigns, cultivating and stewarding donor relationships, preparing grant and funding proposals, and tracking fundraising performance. In addition, the manager plans and oversees events such as awareness campaigns, donor engagements, and community activities, including logistics, budgets, timelines, and post-event evaluation, while collaborating closely with program teams to align communications, fundraising, and events with organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Strong strategic communication abilities, including message development, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in fundraising activities such as donor cultivation, proposal writing, grant applications, and campaign management.
- Proven skills in planning, organizing, and executing events, from concept and logistics to evaluation.
- Competence in digital communication tools, including social media management, basic content creation, and email outreach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Kiswahili is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with donors, sponsors, media, and community organizations.
- Strong project management skills, including time management, prioritization, budgeting, and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; relevant postgraduate training is an added advantage.
- Experience working in nonprofit, healthcare, or social impact organizations, preferably in Tanzania or similar contexts.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and to operate with cultural sensitivity and integrity.
